Its two in form sides that meet at the showground this weekend as the Okes face visitors Newent, themselves on a four match unbeaten run in the league. Oke will look to repeat last week's outcome at Matson, after returning victorious against a side that did the double over them last season. The Forest of Dean visitors also did the narrow double over the Okes last term, so a win would certainly be statement of intent, although it's another big ask against a fine all-round outfit.
Hopefully we will be set for fairer weather than last weekend where the conditions played their part, but didn't stop the Okes from sealing a fairly comprehensive bonus point win. The team line up will be posted in the match centre later this evening, the Okes will hope to have a few of the missing contingent from last week back in the selection mix.
Player- coach Martin Harrison-Browne was happy to share his thoughts midweek as he looked ahead to this saturday's contest-
"As Matson did the double on us last year, I am delighted to get a full 5 point victory there last week. The 1st half performance won us the game in my eyes as our defence was outstanding. Although I am happy with the result, I’m not going to take loads from the game as Matson are a struggling team at the moment. Still very proud of the boys though.
Looking on to Saturday I want to build on our confidence, defence and attitude and get a win streak going. It would be nice to get another 5 point victory at home, one that will hopefully boost us up the table to the higher reaches where we belong"
Hopefully the large crowd that attended the last home match will once more be in attendance, the lads appreciate all the support you can provide as they look to make the Showground a home fortress. Other Maroon And amber action this weekend sees The super twos travel to Barnstaple , whilst the colts take on local rivals Tavistock in a friendly.
Please note the 1sts KO will now be 2.30 PM....
.. .. "Come On you Okes!"
