R&R walk the Two Moors Way

The walk is 114 miles long & will be completed in 6 days.

The 2 chosen beneficiaries are very poignant to both of us – Robbie having lost both
parents very recently through Cancer and I was diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma in April 2013.

We witnessed very first hand how fantastic our Health service is in the approach it takes
to the disease and couldn’t fail to see how we need to do all we can to continue to raise
as much money as possible to allow our research teams to find a cure and consign this
terrible illness to history.

Robbie and I are both Directors of Okehampton RFC and have seen the club grow substantially over many years. Currently the club is in good shape across the board with 4 senior teams and over 200 boys and girls aged between 6 – 16. Next year with improved pitches we are hoping to run to further girls teams at Under 13 and Under 15.

We are continually upgrading our facilities and last year through fund raising, members
donations and grants from the Rugby Football Union, West Devon Borough Council and
Okehampton United Charities we completed a major upgrade on our back pitch. In a major vote of confidence to the club the same organisations have this year awarded grants to complete levelling and drainage of the main pitch. Sport England have awarded a significant grant and will project manage the work commencing in early May.

Our sponsored walk will help in bridging the gap between funding already secured and the final project cost. It will also provide much needed funds to help Cancer Research UK continue their work and beat cancer. In 1970 only 24% survived cancer, in 2010 this doubled to 50%. Help us to help them achieve their stated aim to have a 75% survival rate by 2035.
