The building is a former portable classroom block and was acquired from Chulmleigh Community College in 2013.It was split into sections and transported to the rugby club on lorries. The project was driven by sponsorship secretary John Shields and club member Ross Campbell. A small team has worked hard over the last 12 months to prepare the base, erect the building and install gym equipment.

Club president, Maxwell Turner, said ‘We are delighted with the new building. Now we have not only a first class gym for our members but also a superb meeting room for the coaches and players to get together. We are extremely grateful to the Okehampton United Charities (OUC) for their financial support to make this project a reality. The building was officially opened on Saturday 1st November by the chairman of the OUC, Mr Allenton Fisher.
