A group of Okehampton RFC members turned out today, Sat 10/11/18, some to spend all day, others at least part of it working to prepare the pitch and stand for next weeks Grand Opening. The new goal posts, painted by Merv Adams, have been erected by a team led by Ross Campbell; the new fencing and dugouts have been erected and sponsors boards located on them by a team led by John Shields; Barrie Pillivant and others completed the new stand seating; Max Turner tested the new communications system and a team carried out extensive work on the fir trees on the South side of the pitch while others did a general tidy-up of the area.
For those who stayed on later, Carol and Anna provided Sausage Baps and chips with tea and coffee which were gratefully received. During the past week Dave Stevens, Godfrey Jarman and Mervyn Adams have spent many hours marking out the pitch.
Its been a tremendous effort today to get the preparations for next week almost completed, it just goes to show what we as a club can do when we put our minds to it! Thanks to all who have given their time, it was much appreciated
